Mother Love

Mother Love takes a broad look at family dynamics in Ann McCauley's debut novel. The tale of widowed nurse, Barbara Malone, who had never really worked as a nurse because her wealthy husband had forbidden it...she'd learned to chose her battles during her long and difficult marriage. She married young and had four children before age twenty-six. The trappings of wealth had never impressed her. Barbara had been an acitve volunteer for the Red Cross and helped establish the Well Baby Clinic in Lewistown. She was proud when she was accepted as a Peace Corps volunteer since she had long wanted to make a difference in the world. Her parents, mother-in-law, as well as her adult children were very skeptical about her decision but reluctantly accepted her choice to go off to the mountains of Honduras. Her journey of courage and self discovery will keep readers turning the pages.
