Eivin settles with his family in England on land recently vacated by the Romans ((450 AD). Life takes him up and down the ancient pathway known as ‘The Icknield Way’. He falls in love but is imprisoned before he can claim his lady. His brother, Ans, is the devil’s novice and he hates him.
