At the Sign of the Cat and Racket


Honore De Balzac (20 March 1799 – 18 August 1850) was a French novelist and playwright. He is one of founder of literary realism in European literature. His work had influence on many writers such as Marcel Proust, Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, Henry James, Friedrich Engels and Karl Marx. “La Comédie humaine” (The Human Comedy) is a collection of Honore De Balzac works which are describing French society in the time of the Restoration and the July Monarchy. 
“At the sing of the Cat and Racket” (“La Maison du chat-qui-pelote”) is a novel by Honore De Balzac, included in The Human Comedy and published in 1842. One day the artist Theodore de Sommervieux falls in love with Augustine Guillame, whose parents business house was known by sigh of the Cat and Racket. Will their marriage be happy?
