New Day

New Day is the story of one man, but the struggle of many men who sit in church battling what is considered the ultimate sin – Men sleeping with men. Some call them gay, or down low. But if you ask them, they say they have sex with men, and you’re lucky if they admit that much. These DL men do not consider themselves gay. To call them gay, bisexual or down low is to infer habitual behavior. If you don’t believe me, just ask Jayeson Alexander. Practically all of his life, Jayeson grew up in church hiding his secret from everyone except God, as if he ever had a chance of surprising Him. The inadequacy of his masculinity voids him of close male friendships until he meets Pastor Aiken. They hit it off and would become friends for life until Freaky Aiken turns him out, and leaves him struggling to hide the few bones that escaped his closet. His abrupt intrusion never allowed the door to completely shut the same way again. The bones kept falling and the pile kept growing. His secret was getting out. Jayeson turns over several attempted yet unsuccessful relationships in an effort to find self and gain the peace he desperately desired. He looks everywhere, including his church, straight and gay clubs, social networks, and even his place of employment. One day, on his way back from lunch, he meets a guy who would soon become his Gay College professor. Sean provides Jayeson with the strength and courage to find his way to a New Day - A day where breathing is easier. Gay College gives him the foundation to start again, and leaves him with new perspective, and a much needed attitude adjustment to move forward without losing his sanity. This new day was just the beginning of many shameful days in the class of life.
