The Happy Prince

Once upon a time there was a statue of the man, which was covered by gold, and sapphires were instead his eyes. He had a sword in his arms, which was decorated by rubies. The statue was a monument for a prince who freely lived in a local palace. The people of that town loved the statue and were very proud of its beauty. Children said that the statue looked like an angel and parents of naughty children set the statue as the example for them. One evening a swallow, which was flying from far sites, spotted the statue and preferred to stay at it. The swallow landed on the legs of the statue and tried to sleep, but suddenly the water became dropping at it’s head. The weather was good and there were no clouds in the sky. The swallow guessed that the statue was crying and asked him the reason of its sadness. The statue told it a history… What was the reason? What happened next? Read the story till the end to know!
