In this twist on the classic story by Thurber, downtrodden direct mail list clerk Walter Mitty (whose mother had a crush on Walter Cronkite) dreams of achieving fame and fortune as the self-published romance author of Love's Stunning Assassin. Her colleague Jonathan is eager to assist, which is handy since Wally is better at imagining success than actually sitting down and writing. But how is it that Jonathan can put words of undying love in the mouth of Walter's heroine Christina Christie and hero Jack Amber without ever getting around to any of his own? This short (6,000-word) romantic comedy includes the requisite ripped male abs, at least one name-brand fashion item, and an undeserved slur on the fine state of New Jersey. Also, there's cake.
