Anthony Throllope (1815-1882) was an English writer, one of the most influential writers of the Victorian Era. In his works he portrayed the most sufficient problems of his time: political, social and family issues. The author tended to follow the traditions of English humorous writers and depicted the day-to-day life of the contemporary English clergy which was a sufficient part of the English society. 'The Duke's Children' is a novel by Anthony Trollope first published in 1879. The novel is included in the 'Palliser' series. The story is focused upon the old duke of Omnium, whose beloved wife has recently deceased. Now the duke is left with the children he now must take care of. But that's not the only hardship he has to deal with, as he loses his post as the prime-minister. What does the life have in store for the gentleman? Read this classical novel and you will know!
