The Lily of the Valley


Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850) is a French writer, a founder of realism genre in European literature. He is famous for his collection of novels "The human comedy". During his life Balzac was very popular in Europe and considered to be one of the best writers of the 19th century. "The Lily of the Valley" is included in "The human comedy" collection. It was published in 1836. The novel describes a love story between young and inexperienced aristocrat Felix de Vandenesse and married woman Henriette de Mortsauf, who is unhappy because of her sick husband. The relationship of the main characters are based on a platonic love. This touching story won't let anyone indifferent. Read the novel and check it out for yourself.
