Here is another outstanding anthology by facebook group 'I am Poetry'. This time we reach out to you from within the borders of our insane world. This book of insanity may reflect upon your mind in a very subtle way. We ask ourselves how insanity should be defined. Insanity could possibly refer to humor, tragedy, reality, fear or fantasy. Insanity may be permanent or temporary, and may in fact reflect on pure sanity! What then drives us insane. With a group of twenty thousand members, insanity is rather an interesting topic for conversation, as each poet has their own opinion and version of insanity. Most of us suffer from a form of insanity during our short lived lives. This brings us to the first poem in the book.
Violent Wasting by Richard Wilson Moss:
This poem is over 1100 lines long and may take 10-15 minutes to read. It is a poetical critique of American culture. The title of the poem is derived from a ritualistic practice of suicide performed in 13th century Italy, a violent wasting in which someone kills them self in a most bloody and harsh manner.
The deeper the sea, the better for me. Dear Captain, do hurry!
Soon will come a shock wave... This poem, 'namely 'shock wave from Land' may be seen as prophesy, or just another figment of Bernard Harold Curgenven's imagination. Consider a shock wave due to an unfamiliar phenomenon, one so devastating that it could destroy mankind. Another persion of the feared apocalypse, perhaps?
'No Folly Like Melancholy reflects on the author. Is he off his trolley?
The title 'Sitting In Doubt Room' portrays the text of the poem, or does it? Have you ever had a long moment of relapse, when being overwhelmed by worldly pressure? You may find yourself in a room of nothingness, with your memories and thought escaping you. This is a frightening thought!
Visit the frightening 'epiphany' by Anca Mihaela. Fancy being attacked by this beast or these beasts. This is a nightmare that is bound to change you forever, should you experience such torment!
'Already Dead' by Andrea Baskin touches on the insanity caused by loneliness. The loneliness of death and death due to loneliness. Nobody is there fore you, even upon your death bed.
'My Lost Voice' by Melissa June cries out, and is unheard. The salty tears of insanity are like the vast ocean,
where the mind is dismembered by awaiting beasts!
'I am As Three' by Melissa June, is a fascinating description of the torture that mental patients are put through. Is this torture self inflicted, or a result of medication?
I can continue on this venture into the characters of the poets ,and the definitions of their poetry, but then the object would be defeated. You should have the opportunity to read all these outstanding poems, and manipulate them to your mind's content.
Do enjoy reading this book, and we will meet again, at the next anthology!
