Pablo Neruda frequently wrote his poetry in green ink, as he considered green to be his color of hope. Neruda was awarded the Doctorate in Literature from Oxford in 1965. On July 15, 1945, at Pacaembu Stadium in São Paulo, Brazil, Neruda read to 100,000 people.
