Holger Danske


This story was written in 1845. This interesting story will be useful for children and adults. The story is full of humor. The grandfather told to his little grandson the story about Holger Danske. There was the old castle of Kronenburg, where Holger Danske sat in the deep, dark cellar, into which no one visited. Holger Danske was dressed in iron and steel, and rested his head on his strong arm, his long beard hung down upon the marble table, into which it had become firmly rooted, he slept and dreamed, but in his dreams he saw everything that happened in Denmark. The grandfather decided to cut out from a log the statue of Holger Danske. When his work was almost done only Holger Danske's shield was remained, the grandfather remembered the story of Danish coat of arms origin... Read it till the end to know this story.
