The History Of Pendennis


William Makepeace Thackeray was an English novelist of the 19th century, a master of realistic novels, that represent panoramic survey of English manners and human frailties. “The History of Pendennis” is a semiautobiographical novel, first published in monthly installments from 1848 to 1850 and published as book in two volumes in 1849–50. The action set in 19th-century England, particularly in London, and traces the youthful career of Arthur Pendennis: his first love affair, his experiences at “Oxbridge University,” his employment as a London journalist, and so on. In line with other Thackeray's works, “Pendennis” offers an insightful and satiric picture of human character and aristocratic society, so you have the great opportunity to get acquainted with the other classic example of English literature!
