Mississauga and the cats

My name is Pookie (a nickname given to me by the woman person) ... I come from a long line of Siamese royalty as you may clearly see by my real name on my birth certificate which hangs in a prominent place on the south wall of the living room.  The two humans I live here with me call me Pookie for some strange reason.  I've heard the woman person tell her friends that 'Pookie" has very sentimental memories for her of her granddaughter who was addicted to a story of that name.

I live in this House (in Kingston, Ontario, Canada) because I chose to.....

My grandmother (Claire Leonard) was a prolific chronicler, artist and storyteller who left many of her wonderful writings to me amongst her personal effects; her travel diaries, poetry, letters, observations and stories.  I never read this story while she was still with us and was surprised by her reference to her granddaughter in the text.  She lived in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and I miss her every day.  I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed transcribing it.          Carol Love
