Like a Native American Pilgrim's Progress and originally inspired by a series of folk art paintings, "Shadow-Dogs" takes readers on a fantasy-journey through places connected with the material world, but populated with gourds that sail, giant beasts, idols the size of sky-scrapers and lots of Dogs created from everyday things that are taken for granted but, raised up and animated, are full of power and blessings. The first book of the series sees seven gifted people from the north, south, east and west setting out from their respective homelands to a common but unknown destination. The alliance they form will equip them for their quest to bring about a great reconciliation of all tribes who are in danger of losing a sacred way of life. Setting out on a journey whose course they cannot foretell, the seven travel in the company of marvelous Dogs of Shadow, Salt, Fire and Frost, led by the Shadow-Crow, a spiritual guide and mentor. Traveling blind yet walking in faith, each couple experiences wonders and terrors on the way to their rendezvous, where the rules of the material world don't always apply, and time and space are elastic, if not outright non-existent.
