Robert Michael Ballantyne (1825-1894) — was a Scottish writer who worked in the field of adventure fiction. His works were supposed to be read by kids but adults always enjoyed them as well. Ballantyne's legacy counts up to more than 100 books. 'The Coral Island' is a juvenile adventure novel by R.M. Ballantyne first published in 1858. The book was inspired by Defoe's Robinson Crusoe and served as a source of inspiration for William Golding's 'Lord Of The Flies' and R.L. Stevenson's 'Treasure Island'. The story takes place in the Pacific Ocean where three boys become the only survivors of a shipwreck. What will happen to them? Read this brillian novel and you will know!
