My Hurricanes, Headhunters, Icebergs & more: A Personal Experience 1957 to 1961
This is the memory of a young man who when he graduated from secondary school had no prospect of work. It details his life at sea and the many and varied places he visited, some of the people he met and things he encountered. His very first voyage saw him in the midst of a fierce hurricane. You glimpse conditions in it, hardships endured as well as fear and the work he could and could not do. This story brings the reader through his peregrinations off the coasts of Africa, India, Asia, Australia, and Polynesia including the South Seas, America and the Caribbean as well as a quick trip to Europe to meet Nazi relics. In the Atlantic, he encountered icebergs: in the Pacific, a smoking Volcano and a near miss with a shark. News is incessant: A historical reference for each port and a daily diary of major contemporary happenings.
