Christmas In Ballyyahoo

If there’s one thing happier than a happy Christmas, it’s a happy Irish Christmas, but the happiest Christmas of all, is the one in the magical town of Ballyyahoo!
Ballyyahoo is a tiny, town, hidden away somewhere on Ireland's wild Atlantic coast. Everyone loves Christmas in Ballyyahoo and this one was going to be the best one ever, until two villains disguised as Santa and Rudolph showed up on Christmas Eve and took all the presents away!
It’s up to two boys, Kevin and Gerry, to save Christmas. Usually these boys spend their time lazing around swinging on a gate and playing tricks on the people of Ballyyahoo but stealing Christmas is serious and the two boys set off on their bikes, desperately seeking Santa. But, when they get lost in the woods near the terrible town of Ballyuseless, Kevin and Gerry begin to wish they’d stayed at home.
After a perilous journey through Banshee infested countryside they eventually catch up on Santa and Rudolph but these two villains have no intention of wishing anyone a happy Christmas, especially not anyone from Ballyyahoo. The only thing they want to wrap up for Christmas is Kevin and Gerry!
The two boys find themselves locked in a box, on a boat, in the middle of the Irish Sea. There’s only one person that can help them and that’s the wonderful Witch of Ballyyahoo.
I love writing but I especially love writing Ballyyahoo. Although it's a fictional town I feel like I live and walk there every day. In a way I actually do because Ballyyahoo is an amalgam of all the beautiful places I have ever walked. I love nature and I am influenced by my natural surroundings in everything I write for Ballyyahoo.
I am always conscious as I am walking that everything I see is holds a potential idea for Ballyyahoo and I frequently imagine my characters and try and view the natural world through their eyes.
My aim in writing is always to tell a good story that people will enjoy but I also hope that my stories will encourage children - not only to read, but to get outdoors and enjoy their natural surroundings. I firmly believe that exploring the outdoors is vital for children. Whether they are exploring country trails or city parks, it doesn't matter, what matters, is that children get outside and let their imagination out to play.
